about
Crotone, 1957
Serafino Maiorano graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Catanzaro in 1983 and subsequently moved in Rome.
He has created numerous personal and collective exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, and in 2011 he was invited to participate in the 54th Venice Biennale.
His works are a hybrid of painting and photography. By adding acrylic paint to large prints on aluminum, he reinforces lights and shadows or certain details of the image, reconstructing and deconstructing the original photograph.
Some of his works are present in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Farnesina collection, in some museums and in various private collections.
