Palazzo Reale – Milan
October 5, 2023 – February 4, 2024
Tornabuoni Arte is delighted to recommend the exhibition ‘Morandi 1890-1964‘, currently ongoing at Palazzo Reale in Milan.
After more than thirty years since the last Milanese exhibition, this retrospective—curated by Maria Cristina Bandera—represents one of the most comprehensive and significant exhibtion of the Bolognese painter’s work in recent decades. Continuing the acknowledged international acclaim for Morandi’s oeuvre in prestigious venues such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (2008), the Pushkin Museum in Moscow (2017), and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (2019), the exhibition celebrates the special bond between Milan and the artist.
Featuring over 120 works from prominent public institutions and prestigious private collections, the exhibition presents a chronological journey spanning fifty years of Morandi’s artistic production, from 1913 to 1963. The 34 exhibition sections document the various phases of his painting, highlighting the stylistic evolution and the Maestro’s modus operandi in an unprecedented and targeted manner.
