POP / BEAT, Italia 1960-1979
Basilica Palladiana, Vicenza
March 2 – June 30 2024
Tornabuoni Art is delighted to participate in the exhibition POP/BEAT, Italia 1960–1979, a unique project exploring the Italian Pop and Beat generations, characterized by an optimistic vision rooted in the street culture of late 1960s Italy and blossoming into the 1970s.
The gallery contributes three works: Io (sfera utilizzata nell’azione Piramide di Ghiaccio) by Mario Ceroli (1968), and two works by Renato Mambor, La partita di pallone (1965) and Natura morta e materia (1966).
Curated by Roberto Floreani on behalf of the Municipality of Vicenza and Silvana Editoriale, the exhibition, held at the Basilica Palladiana, highlights the distinctiveness of Italian Pop Art in Europe, its autonomy from American art, and the substantial differences among Italian artists themselves.
This journey through 1960s and 1970s Italy showcases the works of some of the most important Italian artists from the Pop Art and Beat movements.
The exhibition is enriched by a series of performative activities within the cultural framework of the city, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in this extraordinary period.
The Pop section features nearly 100 works by 35 artists, including Valerio Adami, Franco Angeli, Enrico Baj, Roberto Barni, Gianni Bertini, Mario Ceroli, Lucio Del Pezzo, Tano Festa, Giosetta Fioroni, Piero Gilardi, Sergio Lombardo, Renato Mambor, Aldo Mondino, Ugo Nespolo, Pino Pascali, Mimmo Rotella, Mario Schifano, Cesare Tacchi, and Emilio Tadini.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until June 30, 2024.
La mostra è visitabile fino al 30 giugno 2024.
