“The greatness of true art […] consists […] in rediscovering, in grasping again, in making us acquainted with that reality from which we live far away […], that reality that we would risk dying without having known, and that is simply our life. True life […] the one that in a certain sense dwells in every moment in all men as much as in the artist. But they do not see it, because they do not seek to clarify it. And so their past is cluttered with countless photographic plates, which remain useless because intelligence has not developed them.”
(M. Proust, la recherche du temps perdu, 1913-27)
Opening on the 14th of March, Tornabuoni Art Rome is glad to present its new exhibition titled ‘Senza tempo’. Through an interplay of references, contrasts, and affinities, the show aims at exploring four universal and eternally contemporary subjects, reinterpreted over time with ever-different sensitivity and attitude, namely still life and nude, landscape and portrait.
From Morandi to Cragg, from Grosz to Beecroft, from Balla to Warhol, by comparing these experiences, distant from each other in time, an unexpected synergy is created capable of suggesting new configurations of meaning and possible dialogues. The succession of these images helps us grasp the reality of our own life, focusing our attention on details of our daily experiences that would otherwise be lost.
