Claudio Parmiggiani
May 28 – August 31, 2025
Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, London
Tornabuoni Art is pleased to collaborate with the Estorick Collection and the artist’s Archive on the first ever institutional UK exhibition dedicated to Claudio Parmiggiani with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in London.
Through a selection of works created over the last fifty years of his career, the exhibition highlights the artist’s distinctive exploration of themes of memory, absence and silence in his ‘search for an image, object or assemblage that transcends time and individual experience to evoke a universal, existential truth’.
The exhibition features both monumental works and more intimate works from the Delocazioni (italian for ‘displacements’) series, hat use smoke and soot to create ghostly impressions of negative space left by various objects. Reminiscent of photograms but more fragile and evocative, these contemplative works function as poetic meditations on memory. Also on view are works on paper and sculptural assemblages that the artist calls ‘sculpted paintings’.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue and will be on view at the Estorick Collection in London until 31 August 2025.
