Tornabuoni Art is pleased to present Utopia, in collaboration with the architect and designer Charles Zana.
Continuing its program of group exhibitions dedicated to the Italian cultural panorama from the 50s to the 80s, Tornabuoni Art will be the scene of an imaginary dialogue between artists and designers who, despite their differences in education, ambitions and conceptual research, remain connected through creative synergies.
Paintings and sculptures will reveal the common aspirations and the experimental spirit of a visionary generation that sought to reinvent Italy in the decades following the war.
Utopia highlights the links between many artists and designers: Ettore Sottsass and Giorgio De Chirico, Carlo Mollino and Lucio Fontana, Gino Sarfatti and Paolo Scheggi, Carlo Scarpa and Dadamaino, Enrico Castellani and Nanda Vigo, Michele de Lucchi and Alberto Burri, just to mention a few.
An entire room will be dedicated to the artist Mario Ceroli, whose art is located on the border between the two disciplines.
exhibition catalogue edited by Tornabuoni Art Paris. Texts by Charles Zana and Flavia Frigeri. B/w and colored illustrations, 72 pages, 6,6×9,6 in, English, 2019.
