Tornabuoni Art Paris presents the exhibition “Nakis Panayotidis. Ivresse Rêvée” a selection of 25 artworks emblematic of his long career.
His art stems from daily and historical truths. They manage to dodge idealist tendencies by providing concrete signs of an aesthetic experience and their poetic nature is based on material from his own life. His use of light is fundamental as most of his works are based on photography.
Nevertheless, the plastic work of his neon signs – such as interior signs – allows Panayotidis to symbolically illuminate places and things as well as to simultaneously herald an oracular pronouncement that identifies and sheds light on our time and the consciousness of each of us.
exhibition catalogue edited by Tornabuoni Art Paris and Bruno Corà. B/w and colored illustrations, 120 pages, 8,2×9,4 in, French/English/Italian, 2010.
