For its opening in Paris, Tornabuoni Art inaugurates the new gallery with an exhibition dedicated to Lucio Fontana.
With an exceptional selection of more than sixty works, the exhibition – curated by Enrico Crispolti – illustrates the creative journey of the founders of Spatialism from 1949 to 1968, by displaying all the different typologies of Concetto spaziale such as the stones, the chalks, the anilines, the oils, the grooves, as well as the baroques and the small theatres.
The title of the exhibition “Aujourd’hui c’est le premier octobre – Je pars pour Paris” comes from two inscriptions engraved on the back of two different works by Fontana from the 1960s and were chosen specifically for the opening of the Parisian space of the Tornabuoni Art Gallery, October 1st, 2009.
exhibition catalogue edited by Tornabuoni Art Paris and Enrico Crispolti. B/w and colored illustrations, 206 pages, 9,8×12,2 in, French/English/Italian, 2009.
