Gianni Dova. Real life and magical colors
“Painting has not been an end to convey other things, but a means to understand life and reality, or even the magical and unreal that nest in things. My experience is more that of a painter than a man: the former prevails over the latter… so the painter always goes ahead, touches, feels, sees, and the man arrives later on the prepared path.”
Gianni Dova
Tornabuoni Art is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of Gianni DOVA in collaboration with the Dova archive that will take place in its Milan location starting Thursday, October 3. The exhibition will span the main phases of the artist’s career, rediscovering Dova’s original contribution to the national art scene. The selection ranges from his spatial and nuclear artworks of the 1950s, to the neosurrealism of the 1960s, his mature phase in the 1970s, and the fantastical naturalism of the 1980s. These paintings provide a broad and evocative overview of Gianni Dova’s painting, which remains of great interest today and is ripe for rediscovery.
