FIAC ONLINE 2021
VIP Preview: March 2-4
Public Days: March 4-7
On the occasion of the FIAC Online 2021, Tornabuoni Art is delighted to present an overview of the main artistic movements of Post-War Italy through a selection of key works from the most iconic artists of that time.
The lasting artistic shift that occurred in the 1960s in Italy was implemented by young artists who looked for new ways of expression and defied the academic rules then in place. They put aside the Realism trend from that time and strived to include in an unprecedented way the viewer in their art. They encouraged the viewer to question the idea of art, the artwork and its environment, paving the way for upcoming generations of artists.
This visual and conceptual breakthrough took place in the main centres of this artistic revolution – Milan, Turin and Rome – where Carla Accardi, Alighiero Boetti, Agostino Bonalumi, Enrico Castellani, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Arnaldo Pomodoro experimented with form and material. These key figures transformed art and its perception and redefined the concepts of painting and sculpture, each artist developing a distinct language and challenging the boundaries between two and three dimensions.
Exhibited artists: Carla Accardi, Alighiero Boetti, Agostino Bonalumi, Enrico Castellani, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Arnaldo Pomodoro.
